On-Board Computer
The satellite’s brain: mission state machine, health checks, safe mode and ground command handling.
What it does
The OBC runs the mission. It steps the spacecraft through IDLE → ARMED → RECORD → DOWNLINK, runs boot-time health checks, drops into safe mode when something looks wrong, and accepts ground overrides, including a maintenance mode over the radio. Watchdogs keep a hung board from taking the mission down with it.
Hardware
Designed in KiCad with schematic sheets for the radio, SD card, sensors, CAN and watchdog. A Raspberry Pi Pico-based LoRa packet test lives alongside the firmware for bench radio checks.
Status
v1r1 is complete except for a test framework that runs without hardware. The v2r1 deliverables are defined and ready to start.
